“In nature, light creates the color. In the picture, color creates the light.”
Hans Hofmann
Portra 800 is a high-speed daylight-balanced color negative film optimized for use in difficult lighting conditions. When I visited Oregon’s Lost Lake Resort, I knew I was going to be surrounded by really tall trees and the light from the sun was going to have a difficult time traspassing the trees and branches to photograph my family. This is when I pulled a roll of Portra 800, here’s some of the pictures from that trip.
Portra 800 was also a good option for taking pictures inside a train. In the fall of 2019 I went up north in Minnesota to Duluth. My mission was to document the fall, my brother and he’s family happened to be in the same area so we got together for a train ride and for lunch. Here are also some images from that trip.
This photographs where taken with a Canon EF. The pictures come out nice but I think next time I will over expose the film by one or two stops and see what I get.
